It’s exactly what the Kitchener Rangers needed in the second of their three-game weekend, battling from a 2-0 deficit, and coming out with a 3-2 win.
The Owen Sound Attack got the scoring started quickly in the first period, with goals from Declan Waddick and Jake Crawford, both within the first 10 minutes of the match.
Adrian Misaljevic scored his second goal in as many days before the period ended, keeping the Blueshirts in the race, 2-1.
The Rangers were the lone scorers in the second, with Luca Romano scoring his second goal of the year, and keeping the two teams tied heading into the closing period of the game.
The third period was tight between the two teams, with good defense keeping it a close-knit battle. But a passing error ended up gifting Rangers forward Antonio Pugliese a late game score, with the team holding that 3-2 lead through to the end.
All-in-all, it was another good battle between goalies, with Kitchener’s Jason Schaubel earning his first career win, stopping 25-of-27 shots and Owen Sound’s Carter George holding off 23-of-26.
The team now gets set to cap off the weekend with a game at home tonight against the Guelph Storm. The game will start at The Aud at 6 p.m.
