401 closure this weekend for Roseville Road bridge demolition

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Roseville Road bridge is coming down this weekend and the demolition work will require a full closure on Highway 401.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is reporting that eastbound and westbound lanes on the 401 will be shut down from Cedar Creek Road to Homer Watson Boulevard.

The closure is set to take effect Saturday at 9 p.m. and will last until 10 a.m. Sunday.

The demolition is part of the ongoing bridge reconstruction project, which has closed Roseville Road from Whistle Bare Road to Kings Road until next November.

Drivers should expect delays throughout the temporary 401 closure this weekend.

The detour routes, provided by the MTO, can be found below.

  • Westbound traffic will be detoured off Highway 401 by way of the off-ramps at Homer Watson Boulevard and back onto Highway 401 at the Cedar Creek Road, via Dickie Settlement Road, Roseville Road, and Dumfries Road.
  • Eastbound traffic will be detoured off Highway 401 by way of the off-ramps at Cedar Creek Road and back onto Highway 401 at the Homer Watson Boulevard, via Dumfries Road, Roseville Road, and Dickie Settlement Road.
