The snowplows are barely off the streets, and the buzz has already begun ahead of 2026 Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.
Tickets and passes for the 58th-annual festival are now on sale, and like every year, are expected to sell out fast.
‘Canada’s Greatest Bavarian Festival’ starts before the month of October even begins, with a tie-in game with the Kitchener Panthers in July, then four ‘oom-pah-pah’ weekends starting Friday, September 25.
The festival features fun for all on Thanksgiving weekend with ‘Wilkommen Platz’, a free, family-friendly celebration at Carl Zehr Square, just outside Kitchener City Hall.
The event runs from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11, and will feature both ‘KIDtoberfest’ and ‘DOGtoberfest’ activities. It will also include the ‘Sticks & Steins’ and ‘Hockey with Hans’ road hockey tournaments for the second year running.
Once adults have had a drink at the traditional biergarten, they can head to the Circle K stage for evening musical acts, including alternative rock and hip-hop artist Bran Van 3000, and punk rocker Bif Naked on October 9. Then, on the evening of October 10, rock legend Lee Aaron will headline on the main stage. Country and blues die-hards should mark their calendars for the returning ‘Oktoberfest Goes Country’ event on October 11.
Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest Executive Director Tracy Van Kalsbeek, feels confident the year could be the iconic festival’s best yet.
“Plans for a truly Wunderbar Festival are well underway, and we can’t wait for the community to be part of it. From our amazing Festhallen to the many Oktoberfest experiences across the Region, we’re ready to share our unique spirit of Gemütlichkeit – featuring great music, great food, and authentic Bavarian hospitality – with the hundreds of thousands of guests who will celebrate with us this year.”
As always, 2026 Oktoberfest merchandise will be on sale and can be found on the oktoberfest.ca website. This year sees the addition of the limited-edition K-W Oktoberfest pin, created to pay tribute to Dr. Jack Bishop, one of the festival’s founders, who passed away earlier this year.

Tickets for the ‘Festhallen’ are limited, and the organizers expect them to sell out fast, so those interested should head to oktoberfest.ca/tickets while they are still available.
