E-bike driver dies after hitting a curb in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police say the driver of an e-bike has now died after they hit a curb and crashed in Kitchener.

Police reported the collision on Tuesday afternoon which led to a closure on Kingsway Drive.

“Kingsway Drive in Kitchener is closed between Cedarwoods Crescent and St. Jerome Avenue for a single vehicle collision investigation,” read a social media post from the Waterloo Regional Police Service. That roadway reopened around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson later confirmed the single vehicle was an e-bike, which lost control and hit a curb, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.

Waterloo Regional Police now say the 65-year-old driver of the e-bike has died of their injuries, adding that their investigation the incident continues through the Traffic Services Unit.
