Abduction attempt, sexual assault in Waterloo just hours after similar case in Ayr

Police are urgently searching for a suspect in what they call an attempted abduction in Waterloo, early Sunday morning.

Waterloo Regional Police say it happened around 2:00 a.m. Aug. 25 while the female victim was walking near King Street South and Union Street East.

Police said she was approached by an unknown male, who tried to pull her into his car, with perhaps three other people inside.

He allegedly sexually assaulted her while doing so. Police said she was able to break free and ran to safety, and the suspect drove off in the white sedan.

The victim suffered minor physical injuries.

The suspect is described as tan, 5’8″, with a fit build, and at the time he was wearing a white shirt and white hat.

Police tell 570 NewsRadio, at this time there is no known connection to an attempted abduction in Ayr from only a few hours before. That happened around 10:30 on Saturday night.

Police a suspect tried to pull a female victim into a grey SUV, and say there were other people in the vehicle.
