A bartender from Waterloo working in Toronto has been arrested and charged in connection to two ongoing sexual assault investigations.
Manish Patil,35, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault for an incident on Oct 14, 2023 and another on May 13, 2024.
In the October case, police said the victim was being served drinks by the accused at a hotel bar in the downtown core. The accused served her a mixed drink and said “this is my special drink.” The victim blacked out after consuming it and was allegedly sexually assaulted by the accused.
In the May case, a second victim went out for drinks with the accused across the street from the same hotel. After drinks, the victim went back to her room and the accused went back to work at the hotel bar. The victim blacked out after returning to the hotel and was allegedly sexually assaulted by the accused.
Police said Patil was first arrested on June 12 for the October case and then arrested again on June 24 for the May case. He attended the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Monday morning.
Police believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
