2 youth charged after vehicle stolen in Cambridge

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old after an investigation into a stolen car in Cambridge on Saturday.
The two youths from Cambridge have been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Motor vehicle theft
- Theft under $5,000
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The 12-year-old was also charged with failure to comply with a release order and the 14-year-old with dangerous operation.
On June 20 at around 5:10 a.m., Waterloo regional police were notified of a theft at a gas station on Jamieson Parkway. The two suspects were described as visiting the gas station dressed in black balaclavas before stealing property and fleeing the area in a black Mercedes.
About an hour later, police received a report of a suspicious vehicle around Glenview Avenue and McKay Street.
According to a release, witnesses reported the vehicle was driving dangerously and in circles before leaving the roadway and hitting a concrete barrier in the field. The two occupants fled the black Mercedes on foot.
After an investigation, officers determined the car had been stolen from a driveway in the area of Anglerock and Chamberlin Road drives.
At around 7:20 a.m., patrol officers from Waterloo Regional Police Service’s South Division found the driver and passenger in the area of Chaplain Boulevard and Elgin Street South before arresting them.
Both accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
