Suspect caught, charged with attempt murder more than a month after Kitchener shooting

After a shooting in Kitchener on the last day of April, the suspected gunman was arrested on the first day of June.

36-year-old Justin Orr is charged with attempt murder, and other offences, for a shooting around Mill Park Drive and Green Valley Drive back on April 30.

Waterloo Regional Police say Orr was arrested on June 1 in Kitchener, around Victoria Street North and Frederick Street. He had been the subject of a Canada-wide warrant.

When the warrant was issued, police described Orr as armed and dangerous, adding he had not been seen since May 22, in Kitchener.

A 39-year-old man had previously been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.

On April 30, a 35-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds over the noon hour, and taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the shooting was targetted and there was no threat to the general public.

Orr is also charged with fail to comply with judicial release, and possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order.

Police say there are no other suspects to find in this investigation.
