Cambridge council approve naming rights for new soccer complex fieldhouse

The new Cambridge Soccer Complex at 880 Linden Drive has a new name.

Cambridge council has approved Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) as the new sponsor for the complex and will rename it the “Toyota Fieldhouse.”

The naming rights came at a price tag of $250,000 and will last for 10 years. The name will only be included for the facility itself, which is attached to three synthetic turf and three natural turf fill-size fields. The 7,250-square-foot building is equipped with washrooms, changerooms, a community room, staff room and equipment storage.

“Business leaders in our community like Toyota are a key piece in making projects of this scope possible,” Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett, said in a press release. “TMMC continues to show up as a strong and caring corporate partner, through their employment opportunities, their active corporate giving programs and now through this generous sponsorship donation. Thanks to their generous contribution, our new state-of-the-art facility is a space where everyone is welcome and able to celebrate a love for sport.”

The money from the naming rights is part of a larger $2 million campaign to help pay for the capital costs for the facility. A donor wall is set to be put up in the facility to honour those who donated.

“Investing in the communities where our team members and their families live is important for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and sponsoring the upcoming Soccer Complex fieldhouse is a great way to do so,” said Frank Voss, President of TMMC in a press release. “Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada is pleased to help make this beautiful new soccer complex a reality for Cambridge residents.”

The city says the project is part of the city’s strategic plan to “support individual and community wellbeing by creating and activating places that offer things to do.”

The facility welcomed its first users in April.
