Regional police charge 14-year-olds with weapon offences after Victoria Park scare

Two youths from Kitchener are facing criminal charges for allegedly waving a firearm at people in Victoria Park in Kitchener.

Regional police said officers responded to the scene around 4:00 p.m. Monday, after getting reports about two boys brandishing what looked to be a gun.

Police said a search of the park resulted in the arrest of two 14-year-olds, ten minutes after officers arrived.

They allegedly seized an imitation firearm.

Police said no one was hurt in this incident.

Both 14-year-old boys are charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; assault with a weapon; and pointing a firearm.
