By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Police are searching for a shoplifter who pulled out a conducted energy weapon (CEW) at a Kitchener store.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to a business in the Fairway Road and Manitou Drive area around 7:40 a.m. on Nov. 7.

A male suspect allegedly stole merchandise from the store and was confronted by an employee.

The worker, a 23-year-old Brampton man, tried to intervene; that’s when the shoplifter reportedly brandished the CEW and fled.

The employee wasn’t hurt and the suspect is described as being a white man, around 5’7”, with a slim build, and was wearing black clothing and a black baseball cap.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
