Pedestrian dead after Kitchener crash

Waterloo Regional Police say a pedestrian was killed in a crash in south Kitchener, Thursday night.

It happened at King Street East and Deer Ridge Drive, in the Sportsworld area around 8:45 p.m.

Police say that they were able to determine that the pedestrian, a 56-year-old woman, was struck while in the crosswalk.

She was later pronounced dead after being sent to a local hospital.

As for the driver, police say he is a 55-year-old man and he is not physically hurt.

There is no word on any charges laid, but the investigation is ongoing.

A message was posted on social media just before 11:00 last night that the police drone would be flying over the scene gathering evidence.

The road was closed for about four hours while officers were investigating.
