With two days before the streets near University Avenue fill with students covered in green, some students are split on whether they will participate in the festivities.
Chris, a fourth year student, said he plans to make his way around the streets as he celebrates his last year at Laurier.
“Saturday I’m probably gonna hit the streets and see what’s happening,” said Chris.
Shin and Phil, on the other hand, said they plan to go to the gym early in the morning on Sunday before everything starts to get going.
“I don’t really party much honestly,” said Shin.
The City of Waterloo installed large fences on Ezra Avenue on Wednesday in preparation for Sunday. A parking ban has also been announced for the surrounding streets bordered by Bridgeport Road, Albert Street, Columbia Street, and Weber Street. Some students in the area said they’re not really big fans of the fences.
“It’s kind of stupid,” said Chris. “You can’t really do anything on Ezra, but I think on Marshall everyone is going to go there.”
Wilfrid Laurier University, regional police and the city have all urged students not to take part in unsanctioned gatherings.
