Waterloo Region’s Polar Plunge raises over $50K for Special Olympics Ontario

Waterloo Region’s 2024 Polar Plunge broke a record for the most money raised at the event.

According to Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS), who hosted the event, over $50,000 was raised for Special Olympics Canada.

The plunge took place on Saturday at WRPS headquarters on Maple Grove Road.

The Ontario Special Olympic Spring Games are set to come to the region this May, hosted by WRPS.

“There is just an amazing spirit, and we know that people are eager and ready to launch the games,” said WRPS Chief Mark Crowell.
