Students at Sheppard Public School in Kitchener will be returning to in-person learning on Monday, Feb. 5.
Students have been learning remotely this week.
That’s due to a water main break that was reported on Sunday, Jan. 28, just before 6 p.m.
According to the Waterloo Region Public District School Board, both facility services and Kitchener Utilities are working to address that water main issue as quickly and safely as possible.
Work is continuing in the basement of the school. Washrooms in the basement will remain closed even when the schools reopens. Portable washrooms will be available and will be located in an enclosed trailer.
Until the break is resolved, the building will remain closed to both students and staff.
Before and after school programs that are run by WRDSB staff and YWCA KW at Sheppard are also cancelled.
The board has emphasized, however, that learning will continue for students – through their virtual learning environment or the WRDSB@Home platform.
Students are also encouraged to work on any previously assigned work.
