After 25 years, Ziggy’s Cycle has said goodbye to King and hello to Weber.
The lease on the King Street location was coming to an end, which offered the store a new lease on life with the opportunity to expand on services at a new location.
Marta Generoux, owner of Ziggy’s Cycle, said the move has received a positive response from customers.
“Victoria Street and King Street West is getting quite busy with the LRT,” Generoux explained. “Francis Street was going to be closed for four years so I feel like as a long term decision this is probably a better choice.”
Generoux added that she sees the move as a long term benefit with the ability to expand the service department and accommodate the rapid popularity of e-bikes.
The bicycle shop owner does not see the move impacting the number of customers that the store receives, with the big boom of bikers at the start of the pandemic staying relatively the same.
“I think with gas prices kind of increasing and people trying to do something better for themselves like mentally and for physical health, cycling is one of those sports you can do from very young to old, and it’s really attainable for a lot of people,” Generoux explained.
The new Ziggy’s Cycle is located at 130 Weber Street West.
