CTV Kitchener Reporter Stephanie Villella was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday.

Vilella was gathering images from an earlier collision that took place on Brock Road South in Puslinch, just south of Guelph around 10:30 a.m.

The intersection of Brock Road and Maltby Road was closed when a sedan struck Villella around noon.

“The secondary collision occurred when a pedestrian was struck along a section of closed road by a sedan. The pedestrian was transported to serious, and possibly life-threatening injuries,” said OPP Constable Joshua Cunningham in a video posted to social media.

Witnesses told CTV Kitchener that the driver of the sedan appeared to be elderly, and that Villella was within the closed road when she was struck.

Wellington County OPP has not said if any charges will be laid as a result of the collision and anyone with additional information is asked to contact them.

“Our whole team is hoping for the best for Stephanie, our colleague, and our friend,” said CTV Kitchener Anchor Alexandra Pinto on CTV Kitchener on Wednesday.
