Police investigating targeted Kitchener shooting as homicide (update)

Update:

Regional police are now investigating a shooting that occurred in Kitchener on Sunday evening as a homicide.

That shooting took place at a residence in the Wellington Street North and St. Leger Street area, as police responded to the area shortly after 9 p.m. 

On Monday, police had updated the condition of the victim of the shooting from 'serious injuries' to 'life-threatening injuries'.

Posting an update on Tuesday evening, police said that victim, 47-year-old Frederick Pfeiffer from Cambridge, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday. 

Investigators have indicated they believe the shooting to be a targeted incident. 

The investigation is still ongoing – anyone with information that could assist police is asked to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

A man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in Kitchener.

He was shot at a residence in the area of Wellington Street North and St Leger Street Sunday evening. Police received the call shortly after 9 o'clock.

Investigators believe it was a targeted incident.

Police will have an increased presence in the neighbourhood Monday as officers conduct a canvass of the area.
