Over $32K raised for Eli Palfreyman’s family

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The outpouring of support for Eli Palfreyman and his family continues to grow.

The 20-year-old, who was captain of the Ayr Centennials, died last Tuesday evening during an exhibition game.

A GoFundMe campaign that was launched to help his family pay funeral costs has now raised over $32,000.

Over the weekend, the Centennials also announced they have established a memorial scholarship in Palfreyman's name.

It will go to the player who “best represents the character of Eli both on an off the ice.”

The Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Storm also paid tribute to Palfreyman prior to their pre-season game at the North Dumfries Community Complex in Ayr on Monday evening.

His visitation and funeral will take place at the North Dumfries Community Complex today. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Eulogies will then be offered, beginning at 2 p.m.

More information is posted on the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home website.
