The COVID-19 Assessment Centre run by Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) will reopen Monday.
The site on Holiday Inn Drive was temporarily closed Sunday because of an ongoing staffing shortage.
A social media post from CMH read, “Assessment Centre staff have been redeployed to the hospital. Wait times are higher than normal within the Emergency Department.”
Hospital spokesperson Stephan Beckhoff confirmed to CityNews 570 that the Assessment Centre will reopen Monday morning and testing services will resume.
Beckhoff said the staffing shortage is related to a rise in absences linked to COVID-19, and other illnesses and leaves. As of Friday, 32 staff were off-work.
Beckhoff noted the hospital is also still dealing with a high number of vacancies, coupled with high patient volumes.
