Uptown Waterloo pot shop closes less than five months after opening

By Erin Anderson

A pot shop in Uptown Waterloo is now permanently closed, less than five months after it first opened.

The doors to Hyerlove Cannabis at 1 King Street North were locked as of July 4 and a 'For Lease' sign had been posted.

On social media on June 24, the owners of the store announced they were going to be closing the business after a very challenging few months.

The Instagram post from Hyerlove read, “It's almost impossible to find the words to express everything that we've navigated on this journey and the emotions we are feeling right now, but please know that we are grateful for every single one of you that supported our small, local, independent business.”

The cannabis store was broken into on February 22, which was just 10 days after it held its grand opening.

It had to close for several weeks because of the substantial losses.

Another weed retailer on King Street North in Uptown Waterloo, Hunny Pot Cannabis, also recently closed its doors permanently.
