UW requiring proof of vaccination for anyone coming to campus

The University of Waterloo is strengthening its safety measures against COVID-19.

Starting September 7, anyone wishing to access the university's campus, including visitors, will need to provide proof of vaccination against the virus.

UW says it will send out instructions on how to submit proof of vaccination by the end of this week.

Anyone who is still completing their vaccine series has until October 17 to provide proof, and must participate in the rapid testing program before coming to campus.

“We will provide accommodations for rare cases where individuals cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons or grounds protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code. Any unvaccinated individuals who are granted an accommodation and anyone not yet fully vaccinated must test negative on a rapid antigen test no more than 72 hours before coming to our campuses and buildings,” Vivek Goel, the university's president, said in a message sent to students and staff.

Anyone visiting any Wilfrid Laurier University campus will also need to be vaccinated. Those attending Conestoga College will need to be vaccinated by the winter term (January, 2022).
