Wilfrid Laurier University has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 – with one case identified in employee and another in a student living in residence at the Waterloo campus.
According to a release from the university, both affected individuals are now in self-isolation, with their cases being managed by public health. Wilfrid Laurier University has indicated that it will be taking direction on further action from our public health officials and will provide further updates as necessary.
Anyone identified by public health to be a high-risk contact will be notified directly.
The identity of both individuals are protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared with the public.
The news of two new cases comes on the same day that our public health unit declared the outbreak at the university’s Clara Conrad Hall Residence over. That outbreak saw three total cases of COVID-19 identified in relation, while the campus has now reported 24 positive cases of COVID-19 since March.
Wilfrid Laurier University maintains that rigorous protocols for sanitizing and cleaning remain in effect, while all members of the Laurier community are reminded to follow the public health and campus safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
