Armstrong not stepping down as Wilmot mayor

By Mark Pare

A 99-minute meeting filled with emotion, anger and calls for the Mayor of Wilmot Township to resign.

But in the end, Les Armstrong says he wants to prove himself through his actions moving forward, choosing to stay at his post.

“I'm determined to show you through my actions, the sincerety of my apology is genuine,” he told a special virtual meeting of township council Friday morning.

“I can learn to do better, and that I can make amends to the people that I have hurt.”

Armstrong spoke those words shortly after about a dozen delegates spoke, all calling for the mayor's resignation.

Many of the delegates didn't mince words either.
