Kitchener resident among those charged after London police seize guns, drugs

As a result of an investigation led by members of the LPS Guns and Drugs Section, on May 13, 2020, search warrants were executed at residences in London, Kitchener and Hanover, as well as on a vehicle. The operation involved assistance by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Drugs and Firearms Unit, the Ontario Provincial Police, and Hanover Police Service. The locations of the search warrants were on Wavell Street, Emery Street and Brydges Street in London, Overlea Drive in Kitchener, and 9th Avenue in Hanover.

The following items were seized:

  • Two loaded handguns
  • A loaded sawed off shotgun with the serial number removed
  • A conducted energy weapon
  • A bullet proof vest
  • Approximately $20,000 in cash
  • Various rounds of ammunition
  • Cell phones
  • Approximately 928 gm of crystal methamphetamine, value $92,800

As a result of the investigation, the following charges have been laid:

Mark Samuel Canaran, 33, of London:

  • Traffic in Schedule I substance;
  • Fail to comply with release order;
  • Four counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order;
  • Two counts of possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm;
  • Two counts of possess firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence;
  • Three counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition;
  • Occupy motor vehicle with firearm; and
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with.

Michel Dustin Burgess, 35, of London:

  • Traffic in Schedule I substance;
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order;
  • Possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm;
  • Possess firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence;
  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and
  • Occupy motor vehicle with firearm.

Diane Elizabeth Timmer, 30, of London:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Jacqueline Graham, 23, of Kitchener:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

All five of the accused were expected to appear in London court yesterday in relation to the charges.
