Waterloo’s Accelerator Centre named Accelerator of the Year for second straight year

The Accelerator Centre in Waterloo has been named Accelerator of the Year by the Digital Finance Institute.

It marks the second year in a row the Accelerator Centre has won the award, presented at the Canadian FinTech & AI Awards in Toronto on Monday evening.

“The award recognizes the Canadian accelerator or incubator that has demonstrated success in helping financial technology (fintech) and artificial intelligence (AI) startups to launch their businesses and develop technology, while fostering ecosystem support to advance innovation.” said a release.

The CEO of the Accelerator Centre says they are very proud of the recognition.

“AI has grown 270 per cent in the past four years. It's on track to disrupt almost every industry, and we're at the forefront of an applied AI revolution. It's a really exciting time for the Accelerator Centre.” said Dr. Paul Salvini.

On average, the centre works with 100 new startups each year.
