Unique weather patterns in 2018: UW Weather Station

2018 was a year for the books weather wise in the Waterloo Region.
The University of Waterloo Weather Station released their annual summary. It showed faster and harsher transitions between hot and cold than anything seen in the past 10 years.
The year saw many record temperatures set in Waterloo Region, both hot and cold. February 20th saw a high of 15.6°C, which was the warmest February temperature in the last century.
This was followed by the coldest April and the warmest May in the region's records.
The summer months continued to see higher than average temperatures, with August being the second warmest in the last two decades.
When temperatures dropped in November, they continued 2018's trend of doing so harshly with the month being the coldest November since 1996.
Precipitation for the year was split. 2018 saw a wetter than average start, but a drier summer brought the average back down to only slightly higher than normal.
