A home in the Sheldon Avenue and King Street area of Kitchener has been destroyed by fire.
Police are estimating that there is almost $400,000 in damage.
Officer Phil Mellor, assistant chief for fire prevention with the Kitchener Fire Department, says that the preliminary estimate for the damage is expected to rise as officials continue to investigate.
The fire, which broke out around 12:30 a.m., is not considered suspicious at this time.
The house used to be two-storeys high and officials say a family with children lived on the main floor.
All occupants were safely rescued and nobody was taken to hospital.
Mellor says that the fire was quickly brought under control and no nearby houses were damaged.
