Busy portion of King Street in Kitchener to close for 12 months

The commute following the August long weekend is rolling out with a new closure for Kitchener drivers.
The City of Kitchener posted King Street East between Stirling Avenue North to Ottawa Street North will be closed starting Tuesday, August 4 to August 2027.
“King St E will be closed for approximately 12 months, local access will be maintained depending on staging and status of project,” read a notice on the city’s website.
The closure is for road reconstruction on King, which is set to include new curbs, sidewalks, and cycle tracks.
Paving, sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer work will also be underway.
