Extensive damage, residents displaced after fire at Harriston apartment building

Extensive damage at a 13-unit apartment building in Harriston after a fire broke out last night.

Minto Fire Crews and Guelph Paramedics were called to the blaze at 38 Elizabeth Street just before 11 p.m., on Friday.

There were no serious injuries — but OPP say one resident had to be pulled to safety by someone who walked by and saw the flames.

The building’s residents have all been displaced as a result of the blaze, and Wellington County Housing and The Town of Minto are making arrangements for those affected.

There’s no dollar estimate for the damage, and OPP say the fire is not considered suspicious.
