Instrument lending program comes to Kitchener Public Library

You can now borrow a guitar, keyboard, or violin just as easy as a book at Kitchener Public Library.
The program was unveiled Monday morning at their Queen Street North location.
Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy was on hand to announce the partnership between the KPL and Sun Life Financial.
150 instruments will be added to the library, along with accessories. A set of seven videos on how to take care of the instruments have also been produced.
Bob Egan is the library’s Manager of Community Development. He tells 570 NEWS if people start playing an instrument at a young age, it can open endless doors of future possibilities. “Music ties art, culture, history, and social science into one understandable category. This isn’t just a program, it’s something that’s going to benefit a lot of people’s lives.”
Similar programs have been set up in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal with great success.
If you’d like to add to the bank of instruments, the Kitchener Public Library is holding a donation drive from now until August 10th.
