Wilmot trying to break a Guinness World Record for Canada 150

Did you know that there is a Guinness World Record for most people wearing a paper crown in one place?
On Saturday July 1, the Wilmot Canada 150 organizers are going to attempt to break that record, and they need the community’s help.
“The current world record is held in India, and the current record is 1,354 people. So we need the community to come out, and rally behind us, and help us get this record,” explains organizer Angie Hallman.
Hallman says she filed the papers to attempt to break the record back in August, and now the time is finally here to break it.
“Red crowns will be provided, and you just literally have to stand in diamond one, bring a lawn chair if you’d like, sit there wearing a red paper crown, and we have a chance to beat the record.”
The attempt kicks off at the Fairgrounds in New Hamburg at 7 pm.
“We’re working with an aerial photographer with a drone to come and photograph the event. So we’re hoping to get some great shots with the community celebrating Canada Day, celebrating the sesquicentennial event, and obviously by wearing a red paper crown.”
The day actually begins at 10:30 am at the Fairgrounds with entertainment, vendors, kids activities, and fireworks to wrap it all up.
