Police look for more victims after charging man for selling iPhone box filled with rice

TORONTO – Police in Toronto are looking for more alleged victims after a man was accused of selling an iPhone box filled with rice, rather than a phone, to people on the online classifieds website Kijiji.

Police say two victims have come forward, saying they met up with a man in northwest Toronto and payed cash for what they believed to be an iPhone 6 in a sealed box.

The victims allege that when they later opened the box, it was filled with rice _ and no phone.

On Wednesday, police charged 21-year-old Gyimah Andrews Boateng with two counts of fraud under $5,000 and other related charges. He appeared in court the following day.

But police say there may be more victims, and they’re asking anyone with information to come forward to help in the investigation.
