Tax increase in Kitchener kept under 1.5%

Kitchener residents can expect a 1.46% tax increase this year. This works out to an additional $15.33 for the average household in the city.
Kitchener City Council put the final stamp of approval on the 2016 budget Monday afternoon.
Water, sewer, and stormwater rates are going up, but as Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic tells 570 News, a large decrease in gas rates means the overall household costs for the average Kitchener homeowner will actually decrease this year.
