Damage estimated at $15,000 after fire at Cambridge Frito-Lay plant

The Hostess Frito-Lay plant in Cambridge had to be evacuated after a fire last night.

The call came in to the Cambridge Fire Department just after 7:30pm.

According to Platoon Chief Martin Mills, the blaze started when a piece of equipment in the fryer caught fire.

“Firefighters were able to put the fire out, and everyone was able to return to work,” says Mills.

“Obviously, that machine was isolated and needs repair. The approximate dollar value is $15,000.”

He adds the fire is not considered suspicious, and no employees were injured in the fire.

Employees were able to return to the building after 10pm that night.
