Kitchener commits extra funding to Centre in the Square

In a unanimous vote, Kitchener city council has approved a recommendation to commit extra funding to Centre in the Square.

The Record reports that a report to the city’s finance committee has concluded that the $1.75 million the city contributed to the centre last year won’t be enough.

It recommends that funding be boosted to $2 million for next year.

City council will vote on the precise amount of extra funding at its budget meetings later this month, but council has committed to providing additional money for at least the next four years.
