Environment Canada issues heat warning for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas

Environment Canada has issued another heat warning for most of Southern Ontario, including the Waterloo Region.
Hot and humid conditions will continue today, with daytime highs in the low 30’s and humidex values reaching around 40.
Relief in on the way though, later tonight a cold front will pass through Southern Ontario bringing an end to this heat episode. Monday will be noticeably cooler and less humid.
While extreme heat can put everyone at risk from heat illnesses, health risks are greatest for, older adults, infants and young children, people with chronic illnesses such as breathing difficulties, heart conditions or psychiatric illnesses, people who work in the heat, people who exercise in the heat, people without access to air conditioning, and homeless people.
Region of Waterloo public health says drink plenty of liquids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration.
Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.
Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
