Environment Canada issues frost advisory for Waterloo Region

Temperatures in the 30’s over the weekend, but this is Canada and that means no one should be surprised that we are now under a frost advisory.
Environment Canada says clear skies and light winds are expected for tonight and into early tomorrow morning and as a result, frost will develop near midnight.
Host of the Green File 570’s Mark Cullen says make sure you cover up sensitive plants.
“You should cover them with a bed sheet or a tarp at night, that’s the best thing you can do. If you’ve already planted them in the garden just cover them with something that provides a little bit of insulation between that frost as it falls and the warmth that’s in the soil at the roots of the plants.”
May 24 is considered to be the safe day to start planting.
