Premier Kathleen Wynne says she can’t guarantee hydro rates won’t go up under plans to sell off a majority of Hydro One and merge several Toronto-area networks. But she says it’s hoped the changes will create a more efficient distribution system, which will then lead to better control of hydro rates within the system. Yesterday’s announcement of a gradual sale of 60 per cent of Hydro One, starting with an initial public offering of 15 per cent, comes on the recommendations of a government-appointed panel led by former T-D Bank C-E-O Ed Clark. The Ontario government would keep the largest single stake of Hydro One — with no other shareholder allowed to own more than 10 per cent. Rates will continue to be controlled by the Ontario Energy Board.

Less than 100 is a traveling pop-up shop for gender wage equality. Each installment of the project offers work from female artists, makers, and entrepreneurs from throughout the US, priced to reflect the wage gap in its respective location. Men will be charged 100% of the retail price of any item, while women and those who identify as women will be charged 76% of this price. The project is not for profit, with all sales going directly to featured artists.
