AUDIO: OPP advising motorists to stay off 401 in Oxford County

If you don’t have to go out, don’t.
That’s the message from the OPP this morning for motorists travelling the 401 between Oxford County and Chatham.
Intense snow squalls mean zero visibility in that stretch.
OPP Sergeant Dave Rektor tells 570 News there are a lot of vehicles in ditches, including a plow.
“We haven’t been able to get to some of the vehicles at this point, so we don’t know if there are people in them yet…If people do decide to venture out, make sure you have a fully charged cellphone and your emergency roadside kit because rescue is going to take a while.”
Rektor says some motorists have even stopped in live lanes of traffic.
