Teenage pedestrian seriously hurt in afternoon crash

A youth crossing the road in Cambridge was sent to hospital Wednesday afternoon after a crash in the King Street East and Waterloo Street North area of the city.

Police said around 5:00 p.m., a teen girl was crossing the road when she was hit by a car heading eastbound on King.

It led to a road closure in the area during the busy afternoon commute.

A 27-year-old man from Cambridge was behind the wheel of the involved Honda sedan.

The girl was seriously hurt and sent to hospital. Police noted her injuries were non-life-threatening.

When asked if charges would be laid, Waterloo Regional Police told CityNews Kitchener the investigation was ongoing.
