11:00 – wedding disaster
Laura Carney
Another cautionary tale of buyer beware…as a Peterborough couple had their special day ruined by a fake minister. Jessica and Casey O’Donnell’s officiator was George Casselman, a man they had found on Kijiji. He kept repeating lines, lost his page and couldn’t find the rings. Adding insult to injury – Service Ontario has now told them Casselman was not authorized to marry people in the province…and yes, it is a crime in Ontario to conduct a marriage without the authority to do so. The bride is quoted as saying the situation was ‘un-frikin-believable’ and a ‘train wreck.’ The couple did meet with Casselman, but did not want to spend the extra for a rehearsal.

11:30 – Black Friday/Cyber Monday
Adrienne Down Coulson, General Manager, Ebates.ca
Black Friday is tomorrow and Canadian retailers are offering deals to keep shoppers on this side of the border. Conestoga Mall, for example, is holding a Black Friday One-Day Wonder event with a chance to win a 25,000 dollar shopping spree, with doors opening at 7 AM. Ebates.ca says Black Friday may trump Boxing Day when it comes to deals to be had. 84 per cent of Canadians are shopping online and spending nearly 20 per cent more than last year.
