Gryphons try for 4th Yates Cup this afternoon

The University of Guelph Gryphons football team will make the short trip down Highway 6 South to play in the Yates Cup this afternoon.

The Gryphons will face the McMaster Marauders at 1pm at Ron Joyce Stadium.

Mac beat the Gryphons 30-13 in the Yates two years ago. Guelph has won the Yates three times, their last coming in 1996.

The Gryphons punched their ticket with a 51-26 win over the Western Mustangs. McMaster defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the other semi-final.

Gryphons Head Coach, Stu Lang says they are approaching it like any other game “We’re not asking the players to do anything more…just to play to their abilities and we’ll see what happens.”

He’s leaning on the players who were with him in 2012.

“The second time you’re a little more comfortable…I think we’re an older and wiser team than we were two years ago.”

The game will be broadcast on OUA.tv
