10:00 – Boathouse set to re-open next month
Bill MacTavish, Operator, the Boathouse
The Boathouse in Victoria Park is finally set to re-open in December following exhaustive renovations. Bill MacTavish  owns Imbibe in downtown Kitchener. He and his investor, Mark Forwell have signed a ten year lease with the city. The city, meantime, is spending about 410-thousand dollars on renovations – as well as upgrading the patio and walkways around the building. The music venue was first shut down in November of 2011 due to work at Victoria Park Lake. Following council meetings packed with supporters, council agreed that the operator, Kevin Doyle could have the opportunity to run the business again. However, in 2013, he said it wasn’t financially viable anymore – and shut the doors.
