Canadian actress, director and choreographer Diane Nyland Proctor died earlier this week at 70 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure.
Nyland Proctor, who was born in Kitchener, died Monday night at Toronto Western Hospital.
She spent over 50-years in theatre and was best known for her role as Tracy Young, a perky but often clueless young bride of a slick advertising executive.
The Trouble With Tracy was a Canadian 30-minute sitcom playing five-days-a-week, that CTV broadcast 130 episodes of in 1970 to ’71.
After she became a director and choreographer in theatre staging more than 100 professional shows across Canada.
One of her most popular pieces was “Nunsense” in which she won a Dora Award for best choreography in 1986.
Known as “Di” to thousands of performers and mentors over the years, it is said her heart always belonged to the world of musical theatre.
