Wynne asks federal government to increase infrastructure spending

Ontario is asking the federal government to massively increase the amount of money it doles out each year for infrastructure projects in Canada.
Premier Wynne wants Ottawa to increase the amount of money to 2 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product–amounting to about $30 billion–up from 0.5 per cent.
Speaking at a conference with provincial and territorial leaders, Wynne said it should be what’s best for the public, not what fits an election schedule.
“The election cycles don’t fit neatly around the time that it takes to move from planning to ribbon-cutting,” said Wynne.
Wynne added that she may not be Premier when a project is completed, but that shouldn’t hold back any government from spending money that will create jobs and benefit future generations.
