BlackBerry partnering with Amazon

BlackBerry is hooking up with Amazon in a deal aimed at increasing the number of apps the Waterloo-based company offers.

The company announced the deal today and it will see BlackBerry customers have access to more than 240,000 apps that the Amazon Appstore offers.

That would be in addition to the 130,000 already offered by BlackBerry.

BlackBerry reportedly plans to preload Amazon’s app store on its devices in the fall.

That just happens to be when the latest version of the BlackBerry 10 operating system is launched.

In pre-market trading, BlackBerry shares are trading about 4 per cent higher.
