The Progressive Conservatives are accusing Premier Kathleen Wynne of making a secret deal to bailout a Toronto real estate development, but Wynne says the allegations are untrue.
The P-Cs today released cabinet documents they say show the governing Liberals secretly approved a 317-million-dollar bailout of the development at the MaRS innovation research centre in downtown Toronto.
They also say it was done just before the election, and without the public’s knowledge. But Wynne is refuting the Tory allegations, saying the the documents refer to negotiations that are underway, but not completed, to purchase the building.
She says if the deal is finalized, it would help ensure that MaRS fulfills its mandate to create jobs and support research and innovation.
N-D-P Leader Andrea Horwath has already commented, saying she’s worried about the allegations from the Progressive Conservatives.
