Pet microchip clinic today at Victoria Park

The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society is holding their first microchip clinic Sunday in Victoria Park.
From 11am until 2pm, owners can get their furry friend’s micro chipped for $30 with no appointment necessary.
Kathy Innocente is the Animal Care Manager at the KW Human Society and tells 570 News a microchip is a low cost way to make sure your pet gets home safe if they are lost.
“There are about 1900 SPCA’s, Humane Society’s and shelters across North America that routinely scan the animals when they come into the shelter when they are lost. This unique number that is part of the microchip that is implanted, that number is what gets that pet back to you.”
Innocente adds that a microchip is a permanent identification and another important tool to supplement collars and ID tags on your pet even if they spend most of their time indoors.
The clinic is taking place alongside the K-W Humane Society’s annual Wiggle-Waggle Walk-A-Thon.
