KidsAbility Centre for Autism opens in Kitchener

KidsAbility has opened a new centre for Autism in Waterloo Region.

The centre is located above the existing location on Hanson Avenue in Kitchener and will not only house their Intensive Behavioral Intervention Service, but will also have Waterloo Region Family Network, Facile and Autism Services Waterloo Region under one roof.

The 6,300 square foot space was designed with the programming needs for children with Autism.

CEO of KidsAbility, Linda Kenny tells 570 News, through the space, families in Waterloo Region living with Autism, will have better access to resources and support in one location.

“When a family get first get’s that diagnosis, and they don’t really know where to turn or what to do or what that journey is going to look like for them. They’ve got a one stop shop place where they can stop and get information that will hopefully help them as they start to come to terms of what that journey means.”

Autism Services Waterloo Region estimates that there are over 500 families who have a family member diagnosed with Autism in the Region.
